Services

Two tools.
One manufacturer.
Every stage covered.

From the moment you're building a bid to the moment your order is on site — LogSmarter gives you the right instrument at the right point in your project cycle. An AI Estimate when you need speed. A Certified Quote when you need certainty. Structural LVL from our own factory floor, either way.

Vertical Integration

Why the manufacturer model changes what’s possible.

When your LVL supplier is a distributor, there’s a chain between your order and its fulfillment: they buy from a manufacturer, hold inventory, and manage their own supplier relationships. Every link in that chain is a place where price can move, availability can be wrong, and confirmation can wait.

LogSmarter owns the production facility where your beams are cut. We hold our own timber reserves — which means our pricing is insulated from immediate spot-market volatility. When your order is placed, ATP is checked against our own production schedule. There is no external supplier to confirm with.

This isn’t vertical integration as a brand story. It’s the operational reason that three specific things work differently when you order through us: price stability, instant order confirmation, and in-house custom cuts. Each one is a direct consequence of production ownership — not a feature we added on top.

AI Estimation

From structural drawings to a priced BOM — before your competitor finishes their RFQ call.

Here is exactly what happens when you upload a structural package.

The LogSmarter structural package upload screen, with the five pipeline stages listed beside the PDF drop area.
The live upload workspace shows the extraction and pricing path before a file is submitted.
01

Upload

You upload a PDF — up to 200 MB, up to 150 pages per package. Our system processes every page — not a sample, every page.

What this means for you

Your full structural package is captured. Nothing is missed or sampled.

02

AI Extraction

The AI identifies LVL specifications: beam dimensions, quantities, structural notations, load requirements. It reads detail references on each sheet and links every extracted line item back to its source — the exact page number and reference callout in your drawings.

What this means for you

Every line item traces back to the drawing it came from. Full source transparency.

03

BOM with Source Links

The output is a line-item Bill of Materials. Each entry is linked to the specific page and callout in your original drawings.

What this means for you

You see what was extracted, where it came from, and what it costs.

04

Pricing

The BOM is priced against our current catalog at your account tier. If the AI flags anything as ambiguous — a specification that was unclear, a dimension that requires interpretation — that flag is visible to you. We don’t resolve ambiguity silently.

What this means for you

Account-tier pricing with full visibility into what the AI was uncertain about.

05

AI Estimate

The output is your AI Estimate. Non-binding, marked "Not for Construction," ready in under five minutes for standard packages up to 50 pages. Purpose-built for the bid stage — fast preliminary numbers you can use to evaluate whether a project is worth pursuing.

What this means for you

A bid-ready number in minutes, not days. Use it to price, then move on.

What the AI Estimate is not.

This is equally important. An AI Estimate is not a document you take to a permit application. It is not a basis for material procurement on a live project. It is a preliminary instrument for the bid stage — fast, non-binding, and explicitly scoped as such.

If the AI read something wrong in your drawings, that error will surface in the Certified Quote review — before a single beam is cut. That’s the point.

A completed AI Estimate: a bill of materials with imperial dimensions, catalog SKUs, unit and line prices, and the sheet and detail each member came from, under a Not for Construction notice.
What comes back: each line priced, matched to a catalog SKU, and traceable to the sheet and detail it was read from.
Two-Stage Process

Speed for bid.
Accuracy for permit.

01Bid phase

AI Estimate

You need a number fast. You may be pricing five projects this week and winning two. The AI Estimate gives you enough precision to build a competitive bid without committing to a purchase order or waiting for engineering sign-off.

  • Non-binding
  • Not for construction
  • Ready in under 5 min

Certified Quote

The BOM that goes to your framing sub, that gets submitted with your permit application, that gets delivered to site — that document needs to be right. Not approximately right. Right. Engineer sign-off included.

  • Engineer-reviewed & signed
  • Specification responsibility transfers
  • Commercially binding

When a LogSmarter engineer issues a Certified Quote, they are accepting professional responsibility for the accuracy of the material specification contained in that document — dimensions, quantities, and product selection as matched to your submitted structural package. This responsibility is limited to the LVL material specification scope and does not extend to structural design adequacy, code compliance of the overall building design, or fitness for a specific structural application. LogSmarter is a materials supplier, not a structural design firm. The engineer of record for the project retains responsibility for the structural design.

“The AI produces the BOM. The engineer’s signature makes the material specification their responsibility — not yours.”

Not a bottleneck

The AI Estimate exists so you don’t need sign-off until you’ve won the work.

When to request

Won or close to winning. Permit-sensitive specs. Complex elements flagged by AI.

A Certified Quote marked engineer-reviewed and binding, with a validity window, an approved bill of materials, and a custom-size line held for review.
A Certified Quote after engineering review: binding for a stated window, with the custom-size line held back for a reviewer rather than priced automatically.

Catalog

You know your sizes. Order them direct — without the RFQ loop.

For repeat orders and standard LVL procurement, the catalog is a direct line to our production floor. Five product categories. Progressive dimensional filtering in fractional inches — you move from category to thickness to width to length, and each step narrows the results to exactly what matches your spec. Pricing is displayed at your account tier. Add to cart, submit your PO, and your order is confirmed against our production schedule.

No rep required. No email chain. No “we’ll get back to you on availability.” When your PO is submitted, the ATP check runs against our own production — not a third-party inventory feed. If it’s available, it’s confirmed. If there’s a lead time, you see it.

Bulk ordering is supported: multiple line items, multiple quantities, one submission. Procurement specialists with approved material lists can work through a full order without re-entering specifications one by one.

For non-standard dimensions — sizes that fall outside the standard catalog — custom cuts are available. They’re executed on our factory floor, not coordinated through a subcontractor. Lead time is a production scheduling question, not a vendor relationship question.

Order Flow

Both paths. One order.

Path A  Catalog → Cart
Path B  AI Estimate → Certified Quote → Cart
→ Single PO

If you have a project that combines standard catalog items and a structural package — you don’t run two separate procurement processes. Catalog items go directly to your order queue and are confirmed immediately upon PO submission. Your AI Estimate, once it’s been converted to a Certified Quote after engineer review, flows into the same order. One PO. One delivery coordination. One point of contact.

Pricing

Price stability isn’t a promise. It’s a production model.

Lumber prices are volatile. If your supplier buys from a mill on the open market, their cost basis moves when the market moves — and that movement comes through to your quotes.

Our pricing is based on our internal production cost. We hold our own timber reserves, which means our pricing is insulated from immediate spot-market volatility. When the lumber spot market spikes, we’re not immediately repricing everything in the catalog. Our cost basis is more stable because our supply is more stable.

We’re not promising fixed prices. Market conditions affect everyone in the industry, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is that the mechanism behind our pricing is different from a distributor’s — and that difference is measurable when the market is moving fast.
